Ever since I started playing, soccer has been the only aspect of my life where I have always been able to improve. I started in 3rd grade and was one of the worst players on the team. All I had to offer was my athleticism, but quite frankly that was the only reason I made the team considering I could barely kick a ball. Fast forward through middle school to ninth grade. I had played in JV the year before, and thanks to a good performance during tryouts and a recommendation from the JV coach, I made it onto varsity.
Playing two years above your age in any sport is probably one of the most effective ways to improve. That year of varsity soccer was one of my favorites because it was scary and exciting the whole season. On top of that, I got a ton of game time during MESAC and we still brought home a gold. The last season we had, my junior year, I had the privilege of being one of the most experienced varsity players on the team which gave me the opportunity to lead, and improve in aspects of the game outside of my usual position. Looking forward, my senior year I want to be one of the key players for attacking and defending. I also want to practice leading the younger players and help them improve to make sure they can continue our status as a finalist team.
