Varsity Track II

Grade 12

April 16, 2018

This was my 14th and final MESAC of my high school career. The best part about track MESAC, in my opinion, is the people that attend. Over the years I have met a lot of great people who I get to see and race against every year. It was a shame to say goodbye but also very exciting to race against them for the last time. They helped push me to a significant PB in 400 hurdles, accompanied by a gold medal. I also participated in our teams 4x100m, bringing home a gold and a MESAC record of 44.31 seconds. My other races were 110 hurdles and the 4x400m relay in which I got a silver and gold respectively. These results all contributed to an overall varsity boys team gold medal. I feel like I can look back on my season comfortably in the future; I pushed myself as much as I could, and I enjoyed doing it.

I finished off the season and the sports year with a Coaches Choice Award for track, and a Bob Hall Award for the whole year. The Bob Hall Award is similar to a Coaches Award in that it is given to an athlete who is considered to be a leader on and off the court/field, considered to be an all-round athlete, active within the school and is a positive role model to the ACS teams and their peers. The difference is that this is given to one male and female athlete at the end of the year. For me, this award epitomizes the kind of athlete I have always wanted to be and gives me a satisfying end to an exciting story.
